OUR WORK
Established in 1969, Windsor Festival is amongst the premier music and arts festivals in the UK and enjoys the patronage of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.
Reporting to a board of Trustees, MDM provides end-to-end event management. Responsibilities include programming, marketing, sales, operations, and financial management. Each year we produce two series of events: an annual Autumn Festival taking place for a fortnight in September, whilst March alternates each year between an International String Competition and a Youth and Community Festival. We also oversee the charity's fundraising, operate a membership scheme, and coordinate all education and outreach work.
SHAKESPEARE AT WINDSOR CASTLE
The Royal Collection Trust wished to begin using their exhibitions as a basis for programming public events within the Royal residences. Their exhibition, Shakespeare in the Royal Library, part of the Shakespeare400 series, presented an opportunity to fulfil this objective.
MDM were contracted by the Royal Collection Trust to programme, coordinate and produce a series of Shakespeare performances within the Waterloo Chamber during August 2016. We operated within the Trusts existing systems and integrated with their events team in order to best deliver the project.
BANDSTAND OPENING
To commemorate Her Majesty The Queen becoming the longest-reigning British Monarch in 2016, and to celebrate the towns link's with the Armed Forces a new bandstand was built in Windsor.
MDM were appointed to programme, produced and stage manage the official opening of Windsor’s Bandstand by Her Majesty The Queen on the eve of her 90th birthday. The event featured military musicians and a choir of 500 First School children. We also devised and oversaw the delivery of all aspects of the For Queen and Community project concerned with local schools. Working towards the design of six plaques to be mounted on the Bandstand, we arranged military personnel and artist visits to selected First Schools.
CONCOURSE OF ELEGANCE
The Concours of Elegance is a luxury festival of motoring that takes place every year in a different location and Royal residence. In 2016 the location was Windsor Castle.
MDM were responsible for organising and managing the musical entertainment for the duration of this three-day event. This included programming local, military and youth performances across two outdoor sites, securing performers for a gaucho themed evening and overseeing the musicians performing during a reception and black tie banquet for VIP guests.
The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead appointed MDM to run Windsor's much-loved Arts Centre in 2017. Since moving in we have overseen a top to bottom renovation of the venue. Facilities now include a fully DCI compliant cinema, new sound systems in each event space, and new theatre style seating in the auditorium.
More importantly, we run an exciting and varied programme of events including live music, film, comedy, theatre, and club nights, and provide a versatile, creative facility for residence and visitors of Windsor. At the outset we partnered up with Windsor & Eton Brewery who brought their expertise to running the venue's bar.
